Malignant / Cyclic Law Review Edition 11/23/2013

Phelios- Gates of Atlantis-CD/ Digital ( Malignant)

Wow this open with a Bombastic epic neoclassic industrial movement and very damn impressive indeed. If you like bands like Sophia or Shinjuku Thief or even something like In Slaughter Natives. These are all the sounds on getting out of this massive under taking and I only one track in. Heavy martial percussion, strings, deep drones and sweeping layers of piano and synths.. Phelios is one dark journey almost becoming to what I would call Dark Industrial . At times its almost suffocating in the way the tracks are presented to the listener. There is just so many layer and so much delicate skill at the presentation that you get lost into this. I really think someone has a love for project like Sephiroth and Lustmord as well esp the early material. I swear the rumbles and dark tones are what it would sound like when alien ships invade I don't know why? This is a great release from a band that has some release also on Eternal Soul label as well. Malignant you again have a release that is high quality and no filler  and with Experimental music that is very hard to do.

Shock Frontier- Mancuerda Confession- CD/ Digital ( Malignant Records)

Well Well Well someone has found my weakness sir and its old school Death industrial this is all that and just that . A terrorizing sound scape of harsh noises, deep loops in the back and waves after waves that build up to a symphony of noise, torment and destruction... I love old school, CMI/ Death Factory stuff  and so does shock frontier  its Megaptera , Propergol, Inade and good dose of  Gruntsplatter all here folks. So if you listen to this style as I do Shock Frontier is a mandatory listening event. The mix of Deep and occultish male vocal, spoke female vocals and loops with this sinister sounds just makes it one of the most stellar releases I've heard in some time. We need to get sounds like this out into the underground again . I really miss the days of tape trading and distros selling products and going to shows and fest every year and having all he label booths were you could get all the industrial music your heart desired. It can be the same in the digital age we just need to spread the word and with this review I call all those that love the sounds of extremity in music and audio to unite and mak Shock frontier a project to be spoken about the world around....

T.O.M.B- Third wave holocaust- CD/ Digital ( Black Plagve)

The Demonic forces have a new champion for their new Audio Pain unit. We have MZ.412, Valefor and Stalaggh that comes to mind with sounds like this. But with T.O.M.B we mix elements of Power electronic, Black metal and just mind numbing pain. Their are very few project that I've ever heard as pissed off as this one. At times it sounds like that just distorted a jet engine and had someone screaming through a reverb pedal an incantation for the demons of the darkest realm to return to the earth to will it with the black plague once more..  Other times its just ultra low tones and broken speakers to have a dark ambient occult journey. Neither is any less frightening and both are just as powerful. I don't know really where to go any further then this album will either help you expand your vision of music or make you lock your self in the closet till death as the monster will never go away after a complete listen....  Love  T.O.M.B

Parhelion & Zac Keller- Farthest North- CD/ Digital ( Cyclic Law)

This seems to be a collaboration of what it would sound like on the Desolate frozen white tundra's and I can tell you if it does sound anything like this then the frozen north is not a place any human wants to be for long. The nightmarish dark and experimental sounds that are going on here are just terrifying to say the least. I do love the organ and almost very subdued gothic over tone this release as whole has. If your a fan of Raison e dtre , Vidna Obmana or Coph nia then you are coming forward to the right project to check out. Farthest North is minimalist as it is composed to a pain staking level to have every not sound a very certain way . You can just sit with headphones on and begin to get chills as the landscape changes. I would say this is headphone music or at a minimum surround sound stuff other wise you are very much missing out. There is a Beauty to the darkness as well so as you go throughout this event remember to listen fully and you will be rewarded. Its limited to 500 CD copies only so if you want one don't delay.

Funerary Call- The Mirror Reversed Part 1 - CD/ Digital ( Cyclic Law)

This is Harlow's original project and its not Sistrenatus his Death industrial in anyway . Funerary call has always been more occult, experimental and ambient in nature and I use nature loosely. This is a 1 track 47 minute event about the tree of death not tree of life. So the Dark r Demonic forces that compel the tree as well. Occult this is and proggish in sound as well. I hear many 70's and 80's prog element in it if Yes, Camel or ELP were electronic only and listened to Can or Kraftwerk mixed with the early industrial records days  this would be one side of the puzzle for sure then. I don't think Harlow will mind if I say this but Funerary Call has a strong kinship is sound to Yen Pox and the more I listen I feel its an expansion on this sound that makes it all the more impressive. If your ready to take a adventure to something different but similar all at that same time then this is the album to do so with.. I will be listening to this one for years to come.......
