Temple Nightside- Condemnation-CD/ Digital ( Dark Descent)

Raw Guttural Black metal with a heavy dose of old school doom/death metal kicked in is what I'm hearing from Temple Nightside to start with . Do remember Bestial Warlust, Early Krieg and Black Witchery well you have a very clear understanding of where this Also band from the land of OZ  also stands in the sewers of metallic hatred. There is not a moment you are not full of anger, dread or torment listening to Condemnation is just a complete wall of  Nightmares waiting for its next victim. The vocals are effect in the same way Morbid angel use too to add another layer of sickness to the album as a whole. The music is noisy, majestic, doom filled and ritualistic all at the same time . There are moments where I can even hear bands like The Chasm or Marduk coming through is the presentation of it all. Dark Descent reminds me much of what Moribund Cult and Ajna Offensive finding the best in fringe bands and bringing them to the masses one person at a time. Bands like Temple Nightside are never going to sell 100,000 albums there not suppose this is for the cult fan that finds the gem in the darkness and becomes a fan of extreme music till after the end of time....

Taketh- Ignorance is Strength-CD/Digital (Self Released)

I want to like this but its a watered down version of all things swedish melodic metal. The vocals are mixed so add and the clean vocals are just not powerful enough for the music the growled vocals are also just to blackened to work right . With new vocalists the Electro elements mixed with Gothenburg metal would would so well. They want to be At the Gates and Dark Tranquility so badly and just aren't even close to those bands in the writting skill. There are some viking elements presenting themselves too and I tell you revamp the vocal line up and Taketh could be a very powerful force..

Sarke- Araugint- CD/ Digital ( Indie Recordings)

Sarke is another of those fringe black metal forces. Image just for a minute if early Cathedral or Trouble had a strong Black metal element of what newer Satyricon or Khold have been created over the last few albums. Sarke is just that. Black and Roll meets  Classic Doom metal  and they do one hell of a job . The recording is full and deep with simple symphonic elements that just add to the over all sound of the heavily produced sound f Araugint.  There is very much an avant metal flavor to this as well like Manes or Code but just more subtle and masked but this very much there. Sarke have a love of prog rock too as the dissident chords that come from the speakers shows you this right away. Indie Recordings is a label of many ideas and sounds and with Sarke we have something that is a little chaos and a whole lot of just fucking good metal...

Cult of Erinyes- Blessed Extinction- CD/ Digital ( Code666)

Where the hell did this musical force come from they mix 3 of my favorite bands into something all there own. Ulver, Emperor and Manes/Manii . Cult of Erinyes is Post Black metal that has taken on a more  raw Occult feel mixed with the hypnotic and black industrial elements. The more times I listen to the album as well I hear bands like Aborym and Early D.H.G. I love the managed blitzkrieg of sounds and emotions this band creates. Blessed Extinction is a major musical undertaking . Bombastic, Symphonic, Bleak, Droning and Warlike all on an epic scale. This is something Code666 has become known for taking black and doom sound to another level and with Cult of Erinyes is another winning combo. This is an advanced listen most will not even come close to liking this 1st time out there is so much going on if your a mainstream metal listener start with bands like Manes also on Code 666 and move on to Cult of Erinyes.. For those of us in the Cult of  Avant Post Black metal then this could be the album to end the yr for us...
