HEIRS-FOWL-CD ( Denovali Records)

This Australian Crew seem to have fallen into the Post Metal scene with a love of bands like Neurosis, Russian Circles and elements of Post hardcore thrown in for good measure. The Guitars are the Droning Noise Rock mixed with primitive beats and the warm low end bass . The Reviews I'm reading are saying  Swans and Godflesh but I more hear Jesu not Godflesh in what they do and Gira's later not Swans work seems to play much more a major role in there sound. IE " Angel of Light" material. They never seem to become bombastic and full on metallic its a mix of all things that make the whole. Heirs is going to amaze some and bore others to tears as all bands in the post metal style. It's up to you to decide. I find them in the Middle . They have moments but nothing that blows me away..

A Life Divided- Passenger-CD (AFM Records)

So this is another in a long line of solid Electro Industrial Hard Rocking units that I would say go into the same style as Stabbing Westard, Filter, Gravity Kills, Oomph!  etc you get a good idea of what this band is doing.. Their songs are catchy as well with the dancey edge in the industrial side but more on a mosh element or a dark and heavy rave side. A Life Divided are very good at what they create. The songs are heavy and rock at the same time. At time I swear they sound like Linkin Park as well. I know this is not what most want to hear but I like this band as they hold the electro industrial element that the Germans seem to love and have enough metal edge to make the guitar rock too. Give them a chance and you will find something to like about them as well.

Cynthesis- DeEvolution-CD (Sensory Records)

So Prog Metal goes in many different directions in the 21st century and Cynthesis mixes elements of Opeth and Porupine Tree and then throws you for a loop were they mix elements of Antimatter, Anathema and Paradise Lost into the table where I would almost call it Experimental Rock/ Prog Metal. This is not an easy listen by any means. There are spoke word moments as well and then goes into full on heavy aggressive Prog metal too. I hate using words like Thinking mans metal but it's truly what we have here.. Love the bass and drum interaction as it really plays off the complexity of the guitar and vocal ranges going on throughout the album. The vocalist reminds me of Mr Cavanagh of Anathema . Cynthesis can get over the ton tech prog metal too so I sure amazing will think this is way to over the top but you know what I really love this band check them out if you can..

Anaal Nathrakh-Passion-CD ( Candlelight Records)

One word comes to mind every time I hear a new album by the UK  force Anaal Nathrakh and that is Chaos. This band is always on the brink of chaos with every track the project to the world. All in the same track the songs of from brutal death, grind blackened post metal elements to a melodic and harmonic power trip. With Passion nothing is different other then the best production any Anaal Nathrakh album has ever had.  This duo always throw as many musical genres as the can into every album for sensory overload and you know what it keeps on working. If Napalm Death and Arcturus could create one band I swear this is what it would sound like. Candlelight has an album of such caliber this year with Anaal Nathrakh it will be something that maybe even go down as one of the all time avant metal albums ever. This this there best album of there 6 album career. Horns  and Wine glasses up for this one folks...
