Horna- Musta Kaipuu-CD (Debemur Morti Productions)

So from what I'm reading these are tracks from 2004 that seem to have never been released on CD ever. There is a melody to them that I only hear from time to time in Horna. This is not to say that a lot of Musta Kaipuu isn't raw bleak and black as all get out. Horna seems to like to hit to different directions with there sounds a more classic motorhead meets black metal sound that bands like Satyricon and Khold are doing these days then the very old kvlt black metal that bands in the days of old are very akin too. Horna is a very mixed bag of tricks with what they call black metal as some times is just sounds like old school classic metal with the music side till though grim and hatefilled vocals come and kick you in the teeth. I almost expect to hear King Diamond or Slayer at time with the way the riffing and song structures are created. Horna can really throw you off the trail of what you would typically think black metal is and that is one of the reason I really like this title more then others I've heard before by this unit.

Thornafire - Vorex Deconstrucción-CD (Ibex Moon)

Wow does someone love Celtic Frost but is Spanish my friends. This power house is from Chile and they are just amazing powerful kick ass blacked Death Metal nothing more nothing less. If you dig bands like Krisiun, The Chasm, Hate Eternal and even at time Napalm Death then this is a not miss for you. Even the synths though low in the mix add such an amazing layer to all that comes from Thornafire. There are moment of even San Fran Heavy Thrash like Testament and Exodus going on in the guitar and drum work. Thornafire know how to make extreme metal catchy as all can be. There are riffs that will not leave my head esp on track 3 "Deconstrucción". Ibex moon is a great place for extreme metal as there label head is the man behind Incantation so he knows it all as hes been there all before. Thornafire is not breaking any real new ground. They are just taking it back from the bands that don't belong there and in death metal thats what we really need in 2009.

Anaal Nathrakh - In the Constellation of the Black Widow-CD (Candlelight)

I was not ready for this at all , all the other Anaal Nathrakh releases Ive heard have been more black metal and grindcore mixed. With this Anaal Nathrakh have moved into a very new direction. With this album they have gone into all I can say is Black Industrial Doom. If you could mix bands like Aborym, MZ412, Stalaggh and 1st Pitch Shifter album all into one mindfuck of a release then you would have a close idea but then there are moments where bands like Borknagar or Arcturus would feel very at home at. There is nothing but Epic , Bombastic and Chaotic going on here then the melody lines come soaring in loud and clear. In the Constellation of the Black Widow will not be for most and that is an understatement but for those of us that like there music on the edge of control and madness there is no place better to reach then this kind of majestic album. Candlelight this title will be one of legends in years to come mark my words...
